Could anyone check as whats wrong in the attached code, where i am trying to extract the workarea information within a text field through inline.

The code is syntactically correct. You do not use $workArea variable anywhere in the substitution but it's probably because you've
posted just a fragment. What's the problem?

I tried for $workArea variable as well and then tried to do with static ocntent. The issue is none is getting displayed within DCT.

I think maybe something like this. I took your code and here's what I came up with:
