Y drive disappeared during IIS re-install

TeamSite 6.7.1 SP1

We just upgraded our TS server OS to Windows 2003. We were having preview problems after the upgrade, so I opened a case with support. Their instructions said to re-install IIS using this command:

<iw-home>\iw-perl\bin\iwperl.exe tspostreboot.pl <iw-home> IIS

I ran the command and it's been over an hour now and the process has not finished. I checked the Default Web Site list under IIS and when I click iw-mount, it says it can't locate the specified file path. I checked my drives, and the Y drive is now missing.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to recover from this? I already called IWOV support and emailed the case mgr, but I'm on east coast time and they're west coast, and I'd like to resovled asap.

did you check to make sure the teamsite services are running in the services manager on the server? If the service "Interwoven TeamSite" is not started or running then there will be no Y: drive.

If it sayes "Stopping" and the logs says the same, check the timestamp in the log files, I guess its hanged due to some problem, you may need to manually stop the services and find out the reason if you can.

iwtrace.log has this message:

[Tue Apr 14 10:00:41 2009] TeamSite Server Stopping...[Tue Apr 14 10:00:58 2009]: ERROR: DrvUnMountDevice - Lock volume failed Access is denied.

How do I manually stop the service?

How do I manually stop the service?

On Windows 2003, you need to go to Start->Administrative Tools->Services
if you scroll a little down, you can see all the iwov services listed with their status.
Now to stop the hanged services, you need to go to Start->Run->taskmgr(Enter/OK) and go to the Processes tab and look for the iwov iwserver service and end it. To bring teamsite back up, its always preferred to reboot the box rather than manually starting teamsite services.

you can just reboot your box.

If you stop the TeamSite server while there are open handles (for example, someone has
a file from the Content Store open, or is exploring it, or it is remotely mounted), either
of the following entries may be written to iwtrace.log:
ERROR: DrvUnMountDevice - Lock volume failed Access Denied
or:
Trying to delete non-existent vnode 0xXXXXXXXX
These messages can be ignored.

Thank you! I ended up re-booting the server and both the service and the Y drive came back up, but I still have my preview issue. You guys answered some basic questions that I just haven't run into before, so thank you for your help!

I didn't open a thread for the Preview issue, just a case.

In case you're curious, after we upgraded the OS to Windows Server 2003, we couldn't preview DCRs, txt files or anything. We thought it was an IIS issue because the error we saw said Connection Failed SERVERNAME:81. So we uninstalled and re-installed IIS and it still didn't work. So I opened the case and ended up with this thread as a result of IWOV support's suggestion to re-install IIS.

But even after the reboot, we still can't preview anything. I read through the thread "Preview returns blank page" but I don't think that it's a zz_tst issue since we upgraded the OS and were messing with IIS. The error message has changed and now it's saying "You are not authorized to preview this page" even though I set the permissions according to IWOV support in the Default Web Site > iw-mount.

Can you open a separate thread if the following suggestion does not work and paste the link here:

Due to security reasons, the default website in IIS has lot of restrictions. What I usually do is:

1.) Stop the default website in IIS
2.) Create a new site and point it to port 81
3.) Create a virtual manually and point to Y:
4.) Start the new-site if its not already started
5.) Try a preview now

if you are sure that you followed all the instructions in the manual correctly ( created special user, IUSR_Localhost... and configured your "website" properly to use anonymous access) then maybe just clearing your browser cache will fix the issue.

Thanks everyone for the help! Support ended up calling and we have it working now. The reboot brought back the site and the Y drive, and to fix the preview issue I had to clear the cache, then change the password for the TSIMP ID, and then finally, delete the zz_tst file. After those 3 things were done, I was back in business. Thanks again for all the suggestions!
