TPL file issue - Changing class of a table by using perl variable

Srinivasa Talla

We are trying to change the color of alternate tables by using CSS class. Here is the code for trying to change the table class variable.

Try 1: Replace the class
<br>iwpt_output ("class=$tblClass");<br> >
Try 2: Replace the full table tag
<br>iwpt_output("<table border='0' width='100%' class='$tblClass'>");<br>
Both are giving error.
XML parse error:not well-formed (invalid token) at line 37, column 42, byte 1402 at

\iw-home\iw-perl\vendor\lib/XML/Parser.pm line 187
Please let us know if we have any alternative or any mistake here. Thanks for your help.

Your "Try 1" is certainly malformed. XML Syntax does not allow Tag's Attribute to be another Tag.
"Try 2" is wellformed though, you may have another issue somewhere else.

Make "Tries 3/4" as follows, see if it helps. if it does not, save your PT as an XML File somewhere and try
to open with plain vanilla Browser, XMLSpy or whatever your fancy to check structure
or alternatively <br> iwpt_output(qq(<table border="0" width="100%" class="$tblClass">));<br>
You may also consider non-XML presentation template, you will not need CDATA bracketing, etc

Thanks for the reply. We tried with that and We are getting same error. Can we put the tags in side perl code? Because if it is checking XML format, it will not match with the closing tags. For example, if we put <table> tag in perl code, if TeamSite is checking XML format before converting the perl code, it will not find the match for </table> tag. So we are not sure about this. Anyone else got this situation?

Have you tried my first suggestion? The one with curly brackets and without Perl - you do not need Perl just to get a Value

Hi ISCBorisB, really you did great full help to us. Yup, it worked with the first option, so that it won't bother about corresponding tag of XML. We need just value to be replaced. Thanks a lot.
