Perl and RSS

Has anyone been able to successfully use Perl to consume RSS feeds? I've seen some of the sample scripts out there on the Web, but most of that stuff is 1st generation. I'm not very familiar with RSS and it stands today, so I just wanted to know some opinions out there.

We have an initiative to consume some RSS feeds, store them in TeamSite and maybe display them via SitePub components.

Any advice would be helpful.

Yes, I have been able. A couple of times. 1st and 2nd generation, actually. If you mean Rss 1 and 2
