how to capture Date

I want to capture date in data capture form in the format of
[YYYY]-[MM]-[DD]T[hh]:[mm]:[ss]
Is there any item type available for date ? Otherwise do I have to do it using text fields ?

in what context ? A SP page ? A template ? Your watch ?

What date ? At what instance ? Someone entering data in a page or template ? Someone hitting a form on your website ? Someone submitting a file to workflow ?

date and time is to be entered by the user. Its not to be selected automatically. How to validate the values entered ? eg for the year 4 digits are to be entered, how to make sure that anything else tghan 4 digits is not accepted ?

use regex either in inline validation something like:
[HTML]

[/HTML]

or check value using formaAPI against a regex then set item.isValid(), item.setValid()....

But its not very convenient.

I want to make it like

year month day hour min

Can we have multiple "select" in an item ? Can they be labelled differently ? Or I have to create separate items ? How can I group all the items under one item ?

get yourself a decent calendar callout plus possibly some fields to capture time (I doubt very much that you need to capture time with such level of precision, manually)

If I want to use calander with callout, how can I do that ?
Where can I find Date example in TeamSite ? I can find tpl examples, but can not find date example. Please provide me location of DCT with date for reference.

calendar is available here.
and you can use item attribute rowcontinue to put couple select items next to the calender for time.

If you search online for javascript calendars you should find some that include time selection as well as date selection - and you should be able to adjust the javascript output to conform to what you want.
