can we always show visual format editor without clicking the textarea.

Is there any way we can display visual format editor by default on load. Now what happens is, when we click on the textarea only then it gets appeared.

That visual format editor should always be visible and there should not be a need of clicking the textarea.

Please help me in resolving this issue.

actually that's a feature not a bug and I don't think you're going to be able to get around it. They implemented the VFE that way for performance reasons. Before it was set up so that ALL VFEs on the page would load which was very memory and processor intensive on DCTs with a lot of VFE fields. This way only one instance of the VFE is loaded and it's more efficient. If you really need the toolbars to be there then I would suggest looking into switching over to TinyMCE otherwise you'll just have to live with it the way it is.

...and if you need this badly then file for a feature request with support and check whether they are willing to add this as optional feature in future releases.

It will crash your IE more than you can imagine. Not even to mention that it will be very slow. If that is a must have can't live without it for your users do a Proof of Concept for a couple of weeks with one of your DCTs. I'm sure they will change their mind.

I believe this is not possible now with the current active versions of teamsite and vfe, check with support on this.

This feature is not present as said by all the people. Instead what you can do is use tinyMCE, we don't know what TS version and Env you are on though.

Yet an other solution is use external editors hwere you can provide a button and the external editor opens up in new window.

It's better you can ask Interwoven Team. May be they can Implement this feature in later versions.

I haven't tried it - but you might be able to achieve what you want (for a single VFE-textarea) by using FormAPI to explicitly set the focus on that textarea after the form has finished loading...
