Dynamic CSS Style selection in Visual Format Editor

Environment: Teamsite 6.5 Win 2003

We have separate branch and templates for each sites. Each Sites has its own styles defined in separate CSS files in the web.
We have VFM associated to most of the Template textareas. The buttons and configurations in the Toolbar are same across sites. But our styles alone are different between sites.

We have create custom Visual Format XML to define our toolbar configurations. Its under httpd/iw folder named custom_visual_config.xml.
We have CSS defined in these custom xml file.
<style publishstyles="false" href="[eWebEditProPath]/default.css" equivClass="strict" wrapstylewithdiv="false" preservewordstyles="true" preservewordclasses="true">

This custom.xml is configured in our textarea "external-editor-config" attribute.

Requirement:
As our Style Sheets are different between sites and we have to change the default style sheet defined in the custon_visual_config.xml whenever we load the DCR for the user.

I have gone through the Visual Format Guide and they have some documentation on dynamically changing CSS(Pg No 226) using Javascript setting or tags.
eg:
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/ewebeditpro20/xyz.css">.
or

eWebEditPro.onready = "setStyleSheet(eWebEditPro.event.srcName, '/yourpath/xyz.css')";


Issue:
I cannot use the Link tag or the javascript in my DCT(datacapture.cfg). They can be used in HTML/ASPx pages.

Question:
Can we dynamically change the Style Sheets(CSS) reference in the DCT Visual Editor? If so could you please give me some pointers?

Since you have "Branch per Site" you can create VFE Configuration File per branch, perhaps using some naming convention.

Each configuration should reference branch-related CSS and whatnot. Within DCTs you can simply hardcode Branch-related
"external-editor-config" or use <inline> tag to *inject* the correct one on DCR rendition or use XML external/parameter Entities etc.

An approach is a bit sloppy but simple, has almost no code behind it and will work in both DCR Edit and View Modes.
