Choosing Platform for TeamSite 5.5.2
Sudheer
We have currently 4.5.1 on Windows Nt Server.
We are doing our research whether to move on to UNIX or Windows Platform for the TeamSite 5.5.2 Server
My Questions:
1. If we have the TeamSite Server on Unix Platform, can we have the Production Web Server on windows?.
2. What does ATG Dynamo does?.
3. Are any one of you having TeamSite Server on Unix and Produciton Web Server on Windows. If so can you please share your Design.
4. We have a bulit in ASP(Front End) with Mainframes (Backend) applications, So will there be any effect if we move from Windows to the Unix Platform for TeamSite 5.5.2
We need to make this decision as soon as possible.
So Interwoven Experts,Interwoven Engineers and Interwoven Education Group,TeamSite Architects from different Companies, Please advice.
Thanks in Advance!!

I couldnt see any worth in splitting your enviroment over two OS's.
Normally you would use the same webserver on the TeamSite machine for virtualisation as the production machine. You wont get any nasty surprises that way. WIth that in mind you wouldnt be able to use IIS on your unix machine (if IIS is the server you are using). Your alternative is to have your virtualisation running from another windows machine, you will need something like samba so that the webserver can see the virtual file system.
I dont know of anybody doing this, and it seems like danger to me. Id keep things in the one environment. Less aintenance, less training, less grief. Have you thought about moving the whole lot to unix?... you'd have even less grief that way
ATG Dynamo is an application server, theres a million of them around. They have a whole range in their platform such as personalisation, portals... (much the same)
