Problem searching without a dialog - ReSearchParameters

Looking at the documentation it states I can do the following.

pContextItems.Add("ReSearchedDatabases", pSearchDBs);
pContextItems.Add("ReSearchParameters", pSearchParams);

But I get an error:
IManExt: Unable to obtain server information. This server might be unavailable.
Access is denied.

This is despite the fact I am setting the following just the same as when I do show the dialog.
pContextItems.Add("NRTDMS", DMS);
pContextItems.Add("SelectedIManSession", session);

The scenario exists where I want to display the search dialog,
next perform the search then if a document is opened refresh the screen by searching again siletly with the same parameters to show the changed status of the document.

Does anybody have a sample where they have done a search successfully or know of anything I should do differently?

Those parameters are typically used only after an initial search that displays the dialog has been performed. This is explicitly and clearly documented in the extension library manual along with code example.

If you do not need to show a search dialog for the end-user to input search criteria, then you should do the search programmatically through the SearchDocuments Method (IManSession/IManDatabase) exposed by the imanage.dll. See COM Object for WorkSite Developer's Reference Manual.pdf in your SDK installed path.
