using operationID attribute causes item to not display

Hi Folks,

This one has got me scratching my head. Ever since I have started getting into customizing the UI (not that long!), I have had this interesting phenomena where if (intermittently), I include an operationID attribute in a link, then that link does not display.

For example, if I create my own custom menu item like:

The item displays correctly.

However, if I add an operationID attribute, like:

operationID="custom.ccpro.file_menu.copytotsserver.op"
url="/iw-bin/wdpro_menu.ipl/menu_copyto_other_server.ipl"
target="_blank"/>

Then, it does not display.

I say that this is intermittent, because I have others (albeit in a custom "tools" menu) where they do work. E.g.

operationID="custom.ccpro.tools_menu.nrm_navigation.op"
target="_blank" />

I'm obviously not getting something pretty basic, so any help would be appreciated.

Make sure that operationID is defined in custom_userops.xml file. After customizing the UI, make sure that make_toolkit.ipl runs successfully. Now check it is reflecting in TS production environment i.e.

iw-home/httpd/webapps/content_center/WEB-INF/conf/customer

location.

Aha! Got it. So really what I was doing was OK, it's just that when custom ops are not defined in the custom_userops.xml file, it means that they won't display. They are kind of "turned off" by default.
