How to format data from textarea to Visual Format

Could I dynamically copy the data from a regular textarea format over to visual format text area in such a way that the characters like line break/carriage returns are transformed into their respective html tags automatically.
E.g.

This is a test


* my bullet1

* my bullet2


This is another test

Your question is way too generic. It is certainly possible. There is no magic "Command" though, you'd have to code for it.

How to do it depends on the operational Context, like JS FormAPI processing on certain Event,
or CGI callout, or Server Side Script/Servlet call on request, or WF External/CGI/URL task etc...
