SitePublisher DB requirements

Greetings,

I am going to be adding SitePublisher to TeamSite 6.7.2 SP2 which is curretnly running and on W2K3. The install instructions for SitePublisher say that a database is required, but does not give any information regarding what the database will be used for.

Can anyone tell me what is stored in the SitePublisher DB? What permissions does the DB need? What size DB is recommended (current content store is about 2 GB, but will grow significantly.)

My eventsubsystem runs on SQL 2005. Can I just install the SitePublisher DB with the eventsubsystem?

You may not want the event subsystem DB as the same DB as SP because this data is required by your production web servers.

As you start using SP for things like targeting you need valid metadata. That data will be required for more extensive functionality for LiveSite.

As to the size, it can be small but depending on the amount of data ou are using it can get large. If you stay as a fairly static website, then it will nto get too large.

A minor addition: generally speaking SP will have 2 schemas -- one is purely for development (not used by production app servers) and another one for production (used by production app servers). With that said, the DB schema for eventsubsystem and SP are are completely different -- it recommended to have 2 separate schemas. Though they could reside on the same physical DB server.

Thank you for the information. By installing the SP on the same DB, I did mean the same physical server, not the same DB. I will create a seperate DB for SP.

OOTB, metadata related to assets (i.e. DCRs of type LiveSite/Content) that are used for dynamic functionality (i.e. Targeting) is stored in the DB. You can inspect the DB tables once they are created. BTW DB tables are created automatically for you -- you just need to create an "empty" schema.
