OD Error

Hi all, I configured new OD reciver server and try to deploy to the reciver ,OD deployment is failing not able to ocnnect target server.
the log File shows like this

The given log shows as unable create socket connection to receiver.
Please check the below things
1. Try to telnet/ping receiver from source
2. Check any firewall was restricting your deployment
3. Check the both hosts were in same network or diff network
4. Check the Receiver is up or not

i did telnet from source it is also OK.

Can u attach the odnodes.xml, and the definition file. There seems to be some mismatch in the target entry in the definition and odnodes.

As has already been suggested, the first thing to do is to open up a shell and type:

> telnet 192.168.129.84 20014

If OD is running there, you should get connected and (if memory serves correctly) not see any prompt beyond that. If you see some sort of prompt it probably means that something else is listening on that port of that IP address.

If you get an error message connecting, it means that the OD receiver is not running on that IP address, or it is not running on that port on that IP address - in either of those cases you need to login to the actual receiver (192.168.129.84) and look at the processes and OD logs there in order to try to debug.

If that IP address is known to be wrong - then you need to look through the odnodes.xml file on the Base Server to see what 'name' is associated with that 'host' and figure out how to correct it (and then do an iwodcmd serverreset)

Also you need to verify if the receiver is on a different side of a firewall from the TS server, especially if the firewall is doing NAT - if that's the case, you need to read through the manuals (and/or forum posts) as you need to configure things differently in that situation - and it is documented.

I have a situation similar to this. Our OD target server is listening on the wrong ip address. The base server is trying to connect to the target at ****.****.xx.253 port 20014 and the target is listening on ****.****.xx.12 port 20014. How can I configure the target to listen on the correct ip?

If you are using Windows 2008 with multiple ip addresses assigned to it then the ip address that Windows uses to communicate outward will not always be the default ip address. Also, even when you find which ip address it's using to communicate with OD it could use another ip address to communicate with another service (ie SMTP) I have around 10 ip addresses on my server and it communicates out on several of them so I have know way of knowing which one unless I watch the traffic from the system that is receiving it.

There is a patch you can download from Microsoft that will allow you designate which ip addresses should not be used for this communication so that you can get down to one single address.

If you don't want to apply the above patch, then try switching the listening ip address on the host OD server to each of your client ip addresses until you find the one that it's sending out on. Or use something to find out which one it's communicating on.

Another thing to think about is, if you add another ip address to your 2008 server, then the ip addresses will switch around again and you'll have to reconfigure it all over again. Unless you apply the Microsoft patch and designate which ip addresses shouldn't communicate count, that is.

In the odbase.xml and/or odrcvr.xml files - try specifying the desired IP address in the localNode element's

host

attribute value - then restart the OpenDeploy service and see if it is now listening on the correct IP address (the one you specified).

You should also make sure you use the same IP address when specifying nodes (odnodes.xml) and allowedHosts (server configuration file)
