copy just the file and not its extended attributes

In teamsite UI, we use Edit>>Copy menu to copy a file to a new location. While doing so... the extended attributes associated to the old file are also copied to the new file.

Is there a way to restrict teamsite to just copy the file and not its extended attributes?

FYI, there is a setting in application_custom.xml where we can control it while doing File>>Import.

/opt/iw-home/httpd/webapps/content_center/WEB-INF/conf/customer/application_custom.xml

I believe application_custom.xml is only applicable to the Content Standard interface.

I believe a custom menu item may be the way to go.
