How to change Item's label???

Hi,
Can any one help me out on below query?

Query : I need to change the label of Item.
for example:
New ---is label of Item Test


when user edits an existing DCR,the Test item should show as "Existing" not "New".

Is it possible to change the Item's label.

Use IwItem.setLabel in form Api to change the item label text at runtime
ex:
var dcrpath = IWDatacapture.getDCRPath();

if (dcrpath){
IwItem.setLabel("Existing");
}
