Extended Attribute not support Special character

Hi,

I am using 6.7.1 TS.
For images in teamsite, i am setting Extended attributes in Properties->taging window.
If i entered This content "Alternate text para español" , then save this attribute.

But if i checked from backend with iwexttr command like
/iw-home/bin/iwextattr -g TeamSite/Metadata/content/0/Title /iwmnt/btgsportal/main/supersite/inprocess_db/WORKAREA/content_classes/assets/images/thumb.article.bigger_05.jpg

Then i get output like "Alternate text para espaÃ±olr"

Its Showing junck character for ñ symbol.

Could any one Please provide suggestion.

Try using the '-u' flag both when you set, and retrieve, the EA.

Using -u option.
But i am setting extended attribute from GUI (image->Properties->tag)

TS stores DCRs and Extended Attributes in the UTF-8 encoding Format. UTF-8 for the Lowercase n-tilde ( ñ ) is two Bytes,
0xC3B1. If viewed by any software that is not UTF-8 Enabled, that looks like Ã±.

Long story short, TS worked flawlessly. If you need MD/DCR Data in some other encoding than UTF-8,
it is your (the Developer) responsibility to do trans-coding, etc.

but how come developer Encode content after Author saves extended attr with GUI.
Author is giving ip like
I/P -> texte français de

when i fetch external attribute in TPL i get this
O/p -> texte franÃ§ais de

i am also using html:entities but it converts Ã and § characters not ç this.
what i do?

Once again, 0xC3A7 ( Ã§ ) is perfectly correct UTF-8 encoding for the c-Cedilla ( ç ).

Anyway, what is the target encoding that you need? Is it ISO-8859-1 (aka Latin1)? If it is, try
something like the sample below, note that it has not been tested. If it is not ISO, what is it?
