You are being way to terse in your question for any specific reply. In general, this sort of things is done by DCT Inline, DCT CGI Callout
mechanisms or FormAPI callServer. Alternatively you may use AJAX or create your own Servlets using CSSDK, the latter method is
especially useful when you want to expose some Service outside of DCT as well

Is it always a good idea to use the java web services that came with TeamSite? Interwoven (Autonomy now) tried hard to push this technology out with TeamSite 6.7.1+, but they lack a lot of documentation on the technology. Also, it looks like there are two different teams working on TeamSite and LiveSite and there isn't great integration between the two. You'll have to dig through some documentation to get started, but they'll leave you hanging... then come back to the forum, and try to do some more digging. :-)

We have such code using AJAX and .Net.

I will give you a very high level overview here which you can achieve this using webservice.

U can make calls to the webservice by passing the parameters as follows

U need to defined GetPressrelease method in .Net and .Net will make the database connection and get the values. This is a very generic explanation. All our drop-downs are pulled from database using AJAX/.Net framework.

I think I will be using .NET. I can't even install the CSSDK on my laptop...it doesn't like my version of XP.

You'll need to trick your system into thinking that your computer is running a Windows server, then you can install the cssdk.... too bad iwov left in the code that checks and make sure you are running windows server before it will allow you to install cssdk client....
