not able to setVisible(false)

I have a container in which I am using combination="or" inside that I have 2 containers. Each container has 3 items

Based on what the user selects on I want to display the correct item which is either Browser or text.

I am able to do alert on select which brings up the correct value from in my function, but trying to setVisible(false) fails when I try to do

var persValue = item.getOptions()[item.getValue()].value;
alert(persValue);

IWDatacapture.getItem("/root/Text/Links/Local/browser").setVisible(false);
IWDatacapture.getItem("/root/Text/Links/Local/text").setVisible(false);

if(selectOption == "K"){
IWDatacapture.getItem("/root/Text/Links/Local/text").setVisible(true);
}
else{
IWDatacapture.getItem("/root/Text/Links/Local/browser").setVisible(false);
}

Am I doing this correctly? or do I need to do something in addition to this to make this happen? NOTE: Links is a container and Local is a container as well and inside Links I have 2 containers. Local and Global.

On face value it looks correct (though I'd probably do the false/true completely within the conditional rather than setting them to false and then selectively making them visible) - but I'd suggest you sprinkle a few more alerts in there so you can determine if all the code is working - it's possible you have a typo or mis-addressing there which would then cause the Javascript code to stop functioning.

Also remember that you cannot setVisible(false) to the 1st item in the template (where the keyboard focus would typically be)

Did you try putting the extra alerts in to make sure you could see what the code was doing all the way through?

If not - please do so.

If so - please share the revised code showing the alert statements - and the output you see when the code is run.
