WFM1.0 eMail to Review Group not working

Workflow Modeler 1.0.1.0 Build 69377

I am setting up email notification in these workflows and I am getting an error regarding the group I entered in the variables. The Group (MCAReviewGroup) is defined and populated in TeamSite and comes up under the dropdown selection in the variables option but I get the following error in the servletd_out.log file

2009-08-31 13:15:14,076 WARN com.interwoven.livesite.workflow.task.EmailTask - buildRecipientList: invalid user name: MCAReviewGroup, user will not receive the email.

Are you using an OOTB email task? Seems like it. OOTB email task you are using only handles emails to individual users. You'll have customize to handle groups.

Wow, even the livesite package emails can't send to groups... Have it go to a usertask and set up the usertask to have a mailing list for the groups? Or write a custom group mail notification class....

Or - skip the Java class for sending emails and use the old Perl based iw_solution_email.ipl script (as long as you're not dealing with non-OS users)

I haven't looked at it since 671SP2 - but there was a problem with the CSSDK classes for tasks that didn't correctly interact with grouptasks, and as such the Java code that was written to send emails couldn't access the sharedby members f the grouptasks in order to then process them into a list of recipients.

This was supposed to be fixed (perhaps in 672 SPx?) but, as I said, I haven't played with it since 671SP2 - so I don't know if it actually was fixed.

OOTB PLC WF was built with certain parameters/settings and for whatever reason it provides user reviews (instead of group reviews) along with OOTB email capability to individual users and not groups. OOTB PLC WF is just an illustration with expectation that customers will have to configure / extend it to meet their own process requirements. With that said, there is nothing that limits customers from customizing the WF and build their own custom email tasks including one to send emails to groups.

I am not sure what you are suggesting here with user task -- seems to be adding additional step(s) that may not be desired by end users. Writing a very simple Java class to email a group should suffice.

We've implemented a simple GroupNotificationTask that extends our standard MailNotificationTask and just overrides the getTo() method to put the mail To list together based on the members of the group. Used a task variable to define the group.

We had set a workaround having the group name as a Distro-List within exchange server having mails IDs of people in the specific group.
