Unlink is not deleting folders

I'm going nuts trying to figure this one out.

Unlink works fine on files, and I have have verified that the path I am providing is the correct path to the folder I want to delete.

All it returns is "Can't delete 12_30_2008."

I can't even get it to return a good error message.

Does this ring a bell with anyone?

You're trying to delete a folder? In that case look at the perldoc for

ath as Fish is suggesting, you can call `rm -r` directly

Were you proposing that what you posted was a solution - or simply indicating that the documentation for the function unlink states that it does not handle directories except in very limited situations?

Yes, just answering the original question: unlink should not be used for directories (as clearly stated by url I provided which also mentions the proper way to do this)
