Task comments in email notifications

We have requirement to display the task transition buttons in the email notification and task comment text area in the mail , so that user can enter the task comments in the task comment section and click on the transition button in the email.

Currently we are able to show task transition buttons in the email notification using TPLs and able to transition to next task. But we are not able to send the task comments along with the task transition. Could any one provide some pointers, how to capture and send the task comments along with task transition in the email notification?

We are using iw_solution_email.ipl script for email notifications and we are on TS6.7.1 on Solaris.

As per my understanding you are using WFT. In WFM, email task formed by URL Task and there we can pass a Mail Template bodystylesheet file that can be designed according to the requirement. So it can be do same with

iw_solution_email.ipl

, check the mail template that is used and try to customize it (do not alter same file, make changes in the copy of original file) as the requirement. Now pass this mail template file in

.ipl

file.

That's generally the right route - however, the ability to capture the contents of the textarea and include that content along with the actual transitional command that the buttons are supposed to call - is, I believe, more complicated - especially since I don't believe the OOTB transitional CCI URLs provide for a text comment to be associated with them.

If I'm wrong about the above - fine, but if not, you will have to write your own little server program that would receive information about the workflow / task to be transitioned, the transition to make, and the comment to go along with that transition - and then have that server program create the appropriate task object (Perl or Java) and then perform the appropriate call back on that task object, including the comment text desired. The server program would probably have to run as 'root' or 'SYSTEM' in order for it to be able to transition tasks that it does not own.
