Dynamically setting ownership of user task in runtime

Hi Friends,

I am having a workflow requirement where after 2 level of successful approval 3rd reviewer will select the owner of next user task dynamically.As the owner of user task should change dynamically i cant use global variable for the same.
Please suggest me what are the possible ways to achieve the same.

Thanks for your reply mart.I am also trying to use sample_cgi.ipl for the same.I have DCR which contains all the required users for ownership.I am able to get the values of all the user in CGI.
but now i want to chose the selected value and wana to change the owner of desired user task to the same.i am trying to use GetTaskByName but didnt succeded.i guess i am mising something. Can you please explain in detail how to acheive this.

For GetTaskByName to work, you need a valid TeamSite::WFworkflow object for the job in question, and you need the actual name of the task (case-sensitive, spaces [if there are any] count too)

For SetOwner to work you need a valid TeamSite::WFtask object for the task that you wish to alter the owner of (which would be the return object from GetTaskByName) and you need the proper userid information (Unix: "userid", Windows: 'domain\userid')

Please post the actual code you wrote - not just the syntax of the methods you wish to use - if you need more assistance than the above, but it's not that difficult to do.

You might have to insert an externaltask after the cgitask to perform this operation, if the owner of the cgitask does not have sufficient privileges to change the owner of a task.

Run perldoc for TeamSite::WFworkflow and TeamSite::WFtask to see this API. Post your code if you have issues with it.

I am retriving list of the users from TS Workarea from 1 DCR.After selecting 1 user, i have to set that value to the "user task".For time being i am using hard-wired value of the user.

It *seems* that you are using SetOwner Method of the wrong Object. You have to get Target User Task Object
by name and then set this Object Task User, not the CGI Task you are currently in

TaskName should be specified in UTF-8 encoding.

Returns task in the workflow with name $taskname. $success is 1 if successful.

I have tried like this but its not helping me.

here it only prints "fail"..it is not printing any value of $success.

Do you know how to debug a perl script at all? At least make an effort to try and figure out what's wrong rather than asking everyone else to debug it for you. Sheesh.

It simply means that for whatever reason "GetTaskByName" Method failed to find your Task. Note that Task Name is case
sensitive, it should match exactly. Note also that you may use Target Task methods only if "GetTaskByName" returns "true"
(eg Target Task Object has been instantiated)
