Question on callserver

HI,

I have created a few ipl file in the past and was executing them through form API callserver. I had put all my ipl files in the /httpd/iw-bin folder.

Now, in my new project I do not have access on this folder, therefore I was just wondering if I can run my scripts from elsewhere?

The command that I have been using all throughout is:
IWDatacapture.callServer("http://"+server+"/iw-bin/iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi/FileSystemOpr.ipl",parameters, true);

There is a folder under iw-bin on which I do have access. So I was hoping if I could run my files from there.

I am using teamsite 6.7.1 sp 1 on solaris 10.

Your question is confusing. You do not have access to iwhome/httpd/iw-bin but you do have access to iwhome/httpd/iw-bin/somedir/ ?

That should work. It cannot be outside httpd/iw-bin

You are absolutely right. I have permission on iw-home/httpd/bin/somedir/ .

Could you please guide me how my command would look like now.

I am not sure it will work if I run it like below. Since iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi would not recognize a folder. I am out of office currently, so I'll probably try this tomorrow. Do you think this would work?

I have done this without the CGI wrapper, but I think it will work with it as well.

you could also have your sys admin make a simlink from httpd/iw-bin to your callserver. That will allow it to be in the lower folder (that you can edit) and still be addressable from iw-bin

Note, I have not tried that but it should work.

I believe that subdirectories under iw-bin will not work with the iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi - I seem to recall that it is not flexible enough to take more than a single path element (script name) to run with impersonation.

If you don't need impersonation, don't use iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi and you should be fine.

If you do need impersonation, talk to your powers-that-be and tell them they need to give you access to the actual httpd/iw-bin directory.

symlink should still work for that. Of course if you have a config branch and deploy from it to iwhome then you have nothing to worry about.

Perhaps, but that still requires that the symlink be placed within the httpd/iw-bin directory - which if they had write access to in the first place, they wouldn't need the symlink... ;-)

Hence my point in a previous point to ask a sys admin to make it. He can then edit it to his hearts content without requiring write permissions to iw-bin

Hi Guys,

Really appreciate all your help. I now finally have the access to iw-bin folder.

Since I had to run few CLTs through ipl scripts, that is the reason I needed the wrapper. Anyways, I need not bother much now.
