Get a parent replicant index on a child replicant action?

I'm working on my .js file, and I'm hoping there's a fairly easy way to do this.

Basically, I have a child replicant that needs to reference its parent when an action occurs.

I'm omitting code, but this should show what i'm doing:

Price_Summaries is the parent replicant and has the "Upload_Folder_Name" inside of it.

When a Document replicant is added/deleted, I need to be able to get the value from "Upload_Folder_Name."

Only, when an action occurs on the Document, I don't know how to get the index of the parent.

Is what I'm trying even possible?

My only idea around this was to have another invisible field inside of the Document replicant that I keep updated with the Upload_Folder_Name value anytime it changes, but that was going to get messy and tedious.

I thought I'd ask before going down that path.

Let me know if you need more details or code.

When you register an onReplicantAdded or onReplicateDelete event handler - the hander function is passed the IWitem object that was added (or being deleted) - and you should be able to retrieve the name from that item and then utilize relative-pathing (e.g.: +"/../Upload_Folder_Name") to obtain the item / value associated with the parent container's field.

I suggest you read the FormAPI manual - create a simple onReplicantAdded and onReplicantDelete function that displays an alert - like:

function handle_repadd(item) {
   alert("ITEM: " + item);
   return true;
}

With that you should be able to see what's getting passed in and be able to develop your code from there.
