Retrieval Task

How can i create a retrieval task which can convert tiff files to png with transparent background. I do not have AGS installed on my system.

TIFFs normally don't support transparency, so could you clarify what you are after? Wracking my brain:

--Photoshop can save multilayer TIFF files, and I think it uses TIFF2000 to do so. By using a multilayer TIFF you can get transparency.

--Bitmapped TIFFs imported into programs like Illustrator, InDesign, and Quark can have all their white pixels turned transparent, but that's a function of the importing program, not the TIFF itself.

I have a PSD to PNG converter that works well and could walk you through that...and it doesn't require AGS.

It depends somewhat on whether the Tiff "transparency" is specified using an alpha channel or by means of a clipping path. Can you give some more details as to the input?

I'm trying to do something simliar, take a Tiff with a clipping path and use a MediaBin transform to select the clipping path, resize and save out as a PNG. Using the PNG encoder gives me failure when attempting to download.
