Shrink the search index?
RonaldV
Hi,
is it possible (through a clt or the like) to shrink/clean the search index?
Cheers, Ronald

1 option: brute force: remove, rebuild :-)
related:
1) does anyone know whether the TS Search index "auto-cleans" itself. I mean, if a document is submitted 100 times, it would be indexed after every submit...
Given that only the version in Staging can be found (TS 6.5), does the index now use more space for this document, than for another document that is submitted only once (assuming that both documents are identical in staging)?
2) what is the effect of removing old editions, on the search index, if any?
3) if you submitted an document 100 times (and published an edition after every submit), and then purge the index and re-index the branch... would the bulk indexer (which, looking at the indexer logs seems to 'traverse the editions') be indexing each file version, or would it be clever enough to only index the last version (=> impact on CPU load)?
I hope I'm not hijacking this thread, but it feels related ;-)
