Intermittent Proxy Deamon connect issue

A significant number of our users are intermittently getting the 'unable to contact proxy daemon' error which looks like a timeout. However, the proxy server is running, and it works for me and most others.

The Solaris server is mostly idle and netstat -i / netstat -a doesn't show any obvious network/port issues.

Freaking wintel machines! Grrrr.....

It was the Wintel/IIS/ASP preview server. We used the universal 'fix' for wintel machines....and after the restart everything was happy again.

The lesson learned here is: If the web deamon can't contact the proxy server, it might be because the proxy server can't contact it's target... so both the web deamon and the proxy server were fine.
