Hi,
We need to migrate content from Documentum 4.2 to latest Documentum.
Please any idea if Documentum 4.2 supports the DFC and DFS ?
Appreciate any documentation / resources.
Thanks
4.2 is so old, I dont think you can upgrade - your only hope is to migrate contents and metadata from old repository to latest version of repository.
Yes, 4.2 does support DFC, so you can write DFC java app to export files out of 4.2 repo and into new repo. DFS was not even around when 4.2 was built. I think DFS came after version 6.5, so it is not supported in 4.2
Thanks @DCTM_Guru
As mentioned DCTM 4.2 is very, very old. But you need to think about both the client and the server. For client, what application are you using to access DCTM? You may need to replace this and this needs an assessment of what functionality you currently have and what a suitable replacement is, whether OOTB client will work etc.
From the Content Server perspective you could use a migration tool to do a Docbase to Docbase migration. Or look at other approaches depending on volume. How many documents/folders do you have in the current system that are in scope for migraiton?
Ideally you or your organisation should talk to a services company about doing a migration assessment and developing a migration methodology.
Let me know if you need more info. @Doaa Farouk
Many Thank JedSpink2, of course i'll get back to the team, and let you know if we decided to move forward.
