Is it possible to run the MetaTagger app "in the cloud" e.g. on a hosting provider and access it with the Metatagger client from another network? We'd like to have it accessible to a consultant (who would do taxo maintenance and updates) as well as to us (licensee.)

Great question. As we move more software to services this becomes crucial.

I don't see any "techinical" reason as to why this is not possible now, but since SSL is not possible natively on MetaTagger, security remains an issue, if you can open a secure pipe between your host and provider and route MT calls through that you can solve that problem(although limited).

The description of CLOUD networking invokes for me a solution involving SaaS. As the PM for MetaTagger I doubt seriously we will be licensing the current release for any SaaS solution to a thirdparty. So please check your licensing with your slaes rep before you implement.

In case this was not you intent and you were using the term cloud to refer to a hosted network outside your environement...
Hosting MetaTagger on your local network or on a third-party network is allowed dependent on adherence to you license. MT provides access for taxonomy management only via a desktop client. The "consultant" would need sufficient privileges to download the client onto their local machine. The "cloud" network would then need to allow the MTStudio application connection back to the host. It is a standard IP protocol using an http URL and port.
