this value is stored in some variable $x="Y:\default\main\IM\PUBLIC_SITE\US\WORKAREA\required"

we need only the "required"portion for our purpose

can any pls suggest regex to be applied for it ,i have sort of lost touch with them

i am trying to do it my self if i can do it

something like

$x =~ tr|\\|/|;
$x =~ m|([^/]+)$|;
$end = $1;

Note that will change your back slash to regular slash, which is a really good idea.
