Index manager is not working...

Hi,

I am trying to execute every commands in Teamsite Search. Nothing seems to be working, though index and search agents are running.

Please find the output of the commands
bash-3.00# ./iwsrchndxstatus -a
Failure. Error: 20007. Detail: The search manager is unable to contact the index manager.

bash-3.00# ./iwndxstatus -a
ERROR - Failed to connect to server: Unknown socket error

Please help me on this.

Which version of TS and Search you're using?

Did you try restarting index and search services? Are there any exceptions in iw.tsindex.log?

I am getting the similar problem.

Index server is getting down again & again.Whenever I restart index server , all the search CLT are working fine.But after 2-3 mins , all search CLT stopped working.And showing following error message.

>iwndxstatus -a
ERROR - Failed to connect to server: Unknown socket error
Please make sure the search server and index server are running.

I found index server goes down again & again.

TS Version-6.7.2(Unix box)
Search Version-3.1.1
Both on same server.

Please provide some inputs to resolve it.

Do none of you people have support contracts? First thing I would do is open a support case. Send all your logs. Have you checked the indexer and search logs for errors? At least make an effort...

Besides continuing a 3-year old thread ... One thing to note is that when the indexer is started and hasn't completed the first pass of indexing the branch(es) it tends not to respond to requests and you'll see the error you described even though the indexer is, in fact, running.

Also, when one stops the indexer - if it was in the process of doing some significant work, it will continue to do so but stop accepting requests and you'll see the error you described even though the indexer is, in fact, running but working on stopping.

Going through (and collecting) the logs and opening a Support case would probably be the best route though.

Perform these steps
1) Check event subsystem is running or not
2) Stop Search
3) Stop Index

Look for your ports(Search & Index) are running, then start index & tail it & then start search.

Thanks for your response.I tried to resolve this issue.but unsuccessful.
Please find attached log files.

Also I found , that this problem may occurs when size/count of messages in db grows & its not able to delete the expired messages in ESS.I am working currently on this solution.

If you have any pointer after seeing logs , please provide.

When i see your logs, Your Indexer & search is started...later indexer stopped working followed by Search....

Yes after 4-5 mins indexer stops working..

I found only "[12 Mar 2012 02:46:32,491] ERROR com.interwoven.hunter.search.BranchMapping (Thread-14) - Received unexpected exception while updating branch status from the index manager:
java.io.EOFException: Unexpected end of stream."

Form this error I am unable to find out what is the issue?

When i see your logs, Your Indexer & search is started...later indexer stopped working followed by Search....

Turn debugging on for the Indexer. It is done with one of the property files.
