Can't end WF after email task?

Hi guys,

I'm new to workflow and facing some design issue in auto ending the WF task

In my WF, last task is group task which comes after email task. Email task basically emails the status of deployment to specific users group and than user of that group has to manually END the WF. I need that after emailing to group, WF should get ended in itself.

Can anyone throw some light on how to automatically end the workflow after sending email to the group task.

Well - I'm not sure you need a grouptask - but it does provide a means to an end - so what I would do is set a timeout on the grouptask of "+000000" with a timeout transition to the endtask.

It *seems* that you know how to transition your mail Task to the Group Task.
Why don't you transition to the 'endtask' directly?

How can get the list of users of specific group, to whom I need to send email for deployment status. In short, deployment status is sent to the specific users which I have configured in group task. Hence email is been sent to this group task users.

Not sure but can i get rid of group task here, if yes than how?

If the group is already referenced in another grouptask within the workflow - you can stipulate that grouptask as the "target task" for the email - and your notification task can just transition to the end task.
or
You can use some other means of instructing the email notification as to the list of recipients (hard-coded in PT [not recommended] or external configuration file) - but that seems a bit heavy-handed unless this situation comes up a lot
or
You can use the grouptask with the timeout mechanism I already suggested
or
You can have the email notification task transition to both the grouptask and the endtask concurrently - still specifying the grouptask as the "target task" but basically ignoring the grouptask from a functional perspective.

There are probably other alternatives - but I think I'd opt for (a), (c), or (d) over (b).

How can I set timeout to grouptask. I'm using WF modeler ver 1.0.0.1 and cannot find any option to set timeout. Also gone through WF developers guide but it does not throws much light on using timeout. Please help

You need to add a "timeout transition" link from the grouptask to the endtask - and then modify the properties on the link (it's a change in paradigm from WFT programming where the timeouts were specified on the task itself and not on the 'succ's or links)
