Taskspace Create Folder option disabled

Hello,

I've a fairly simple requirement to allow users to create folder and upload document into their department specific directory . Where all depart directories are under a root cabinet representing the organization. Now, the basic structure (root cabinet and department folders under it) is created by dmadmin from DA and one time activity .Also, department specific folders are assigned ACL with write permit for department specific groups.

I've created a folder tab with default folder content configuration where root folder is configured to be the cabinet and standard actions are configured for that tab.roles are created and tabs are assigned accordingly. groups added to role

Now , when user1 from department1 logs in , I want him to be able to see the "department1" folder and be able to create his workarea subfolder under that and upload documents.

Problem is the "Create Folder" option is disabled when user1 goes to "department1" folder.

I've tried even by giving delete permission but same issue persists. The "Create folde" option is enable only for dmadmin who created original folder structure.

Any idea what could I be missing here

Make sure your users have client capability set to contributor (not consumer) on their user account. If that setting is already defined, confirm that the user has been assign to appropriate taskspace application role.

Hi Jhonny , thanks for the response . I've already made sure that users have client capability as contributor.User has been added to the taskspace role which is configured to access to the Folder tab.

ACL wise , all organization users have write access to root cabinet . Whereas for department specific folder , only those department group have write access and dm_world none. Obviously owner (dmadmin) is having delete access.

While I try to create the folder with a particular department user , I can do using DA as per designed access control . but not through taskspace folder tab (Taskspace 6.7 SP2)

It looks like the "create folder" action in taskspace is only getting enabled if the user is owner of the folder under which its trying to create subfolder. Just to check if it has anything to do with owner access (delete), I separately provided delete permission to check and test but didn't make any difference.

The only thing that now seems to make it work is changing the ownership of department folder from dmadmin to the department specific group . But that doesn't feel like a proper solution . more so , not sure why it behaves like this.

Is Change Location enabled for the user in the ACL? Maybe the folder is getting created in the user default_folder location and Taskspace is trying to link it department folder, but Change Location extended privilege is not enabled.

Hi ..change location and run procedure are already enabled in extended privilege. But that doesn't help.

Seems somehow only being the owner of the folder (either directly or through group membership) enables the "create folder" option for the logged in user

In webtop, you can define precondition for an action that needs to be satisfied in order for the action to be enabled (eg checkin not enabled unless the document is locked). Maybe Taskspace is using precondition as well for create folder scenario. If it is using precondition for action, then you can override the precondition logic with your own. I cant tell you how to check for this, since I dont have access to Taskspace any more.
