Are indexing and search services separate modules than TeamSite ?

Do they require separate licences ?

What functionality do they provide, that is not provided by TeamSite ?
Pls explain with an example.

Search is a seperate module installed along with TeamSite application. No licenses are required for Search.

There are 2 parts in Interwoven Search: search manager and index manager. The index manager controls the indexing of content. The search manager performs queries on indices and returns the results to the user.

Please refer TeamSite Admin guide for details re integration, configuring search/index managers etc.
