Does OD bootstrap user need to be a domain account?

I can't find this documented anywhere. Dos the bootstrap account use to install OD need to be a domain account with access to base and receivers? Or can it simply be a local account which needs to be created on both?

I looked through the admin guide and the installl guide, couldn't find anything.

I believe it can be either - by default, I believe that it uses the local account "root" (Unix) or "Administrator" (Windows) - if you're using a Windows Domain account, you need to include the domain information. All of this appears to be reasonably well documented in the OD Installation manual.

I have always just used a domain account. but am at a client that would prefer not to use domain acounts if possible. So was jsut trying to find something written down rather than setting up a test.

I would like to use domain accounts for opendeploy users, but CSF access server is not authenticating the domain accounts, it is just throwing the famous useless error: Failed to authenticate user.Invalid username/password combination.

I have used domain accounts with opendeploy before (in windows), but i can't remember if i had to add those accounts to local OS group before using them or if i did anything special to make them work.

any pointers?

this is for OD 6.2.1 redhat 5 running as root.

This is Unix - and I don't believe that OD 6.2.1 has support for "non-OS users" - so yes, you'd probably have to create an entry for the user in /etc/passwd in order for them to be able to authenticate.
