TeamSite implementation time

nirjari

When TeamSite is installed in the environment for the first time to manage content of an existing website, that website has many pages and each page has different sections.

It will be required to create a DCT for each section in order to update that section. Each DCT creates DCRs which are XML files and these XML files are transformed to HTML by XSL. Is it required to write code for the XSL also ?

How long will it take for all the content to be updated by TeamSite from the time TS is installed in the system to the time when all the templates are created and everything is updated by TS only.

This is relative ofcourse, depending on individual site. But I am just curious for normal course of action. So please give approximate idea for a telecom website, which is updated not that frequent. Also give an idea for a newspaper website, where content changes every half an hour and there are way more sections than other business sites.

thanx

I want a house built. It needs stainless steel appliances and red walls. How long will it take ?
No one can give you anything but a wild guess. between 2 months and 2 years.

it'll take as long as it takes you to build your TS server and write the code that will automatically go through and load all your current content into TS and convert it into TS format.

or however long it takes you to build your TS server and have people manually convert the content over to TS.

so anywhere from 2 months to 5 years...only you can tell how long it's going to take since only you know the environment and the requirements.

Ha, you must be slow if it takes you 5 years. Smiley Very Happy

well content conversion can take awhile if you're content publishers refuse to move their content over to the new system Smiley Wink

(or it's the case that they have no resources to help them move their content over which was usually the case)

My personal experience (based on analysis with differnt ECM products), Interwoven Teamsite has maximum flexibility to run website in less time however it still depends on your CMS architecture and experienced workforce
