It would be better if you state your requirements clearly in terms of:

1. What you want to parse; an externally placed XML?
2. Where you want to use the extracted values of XML?

To give some input, you need to call a script using callserver, which in turn parses your desired xml and returns with values.

And we would be very thankful if you could provide more detail and/or context to your question. What XML are you trying to parse? What FormAPI code have you tried to use to parse it? What were the results?

If you're going to ask for free code - you should at least be willing to supply details of what you've done to earn the free code.

It would be better if you actually took some training. Your question makes little sense. While there may be times when one needs to parse external XML in FormAPI, it is much more likely that you do not understand how this works.

so the scenario is :-

This fourm is more related with the Templating and FormApi stuff so what I expected is to get some help on FormAPI although the XML parsing is the part of my WF development on which I am working now a days.

I required xml parsing within a WF customization screen. As you must be knowing that in WFM, after conversion,custom_instantiation_screen behaves as a teamsite template. My workflow is a generic kind of workflow can be configured for any branch and application for review and deployment of the contents. Now each and every application resides in prospective workarea and each and every workarea has a own set of target nodes that has already captured in a DCR file. What i want is to fill a list box on the WF initiation screen with the own set of target nodes those configured for particular workarea.

we can do this with two ways :-

1) Use of callserver with CGI script.
2) Use of FormAPI(If possible).

As I am not much accustom with CGI script so thought if FORMAPI could parse the xml then I easily match the workarea and fill the list box.

Any Suggestion??

FormAPI runs on the client (browser) side, your configuration DCR is on the Server. The bridge is callServer method, use it.

Alternatively, you can code a bunch of *getThis / getThat* JS helper functions in the configuration DCT and use CC URL
Command "edit" to gain an access to them from the WF instantiation Form, see some discussion [post=101599]here[/post]. I would recommend
against it though, callServer seems to be a way to go in your case
