Deploying between 2 base servers, strange DNR behavior.

Hello people,

I am exporting content between 2 TeamSite 6.7.1 SP1, windows 2003 base servers using OpenDeploy 6.2.0. Both odbase config files are set to execute DNR script, and the buggers actually do that too. Only problem, they are always run.

Before start of a deployment I run a script on the target that creates a workarea for me. This works like a sharm. When the deployments has run, I want to submit the content and create an edition. So I configured the deploy script it should kick off another script on the target that will do that for me. This also works, but it always works, even when a deployment fails.

I've tried to make a deployment fail by creating the workarea manually, and set a file (that I know for sure it will be updated) to read only (this sometimes happen here). The deployment fails, but the dnr script is still run. I again end up with a submission and an edition.

I have tried to turn the world around by doing thing when a deployment fails, but then nothing happens. For now it looks like OD does not recognize the failing state of the deployment. I have also tried to use a triggerpoint=disconnect, but then again nothing happens.

I must be doing something wrong. Anybody got an idea what...?

Note that in the non-transactional mode OD considers a failure to deploy a single File acceptable, process continues.
In such case the Return Code is 9 - completed with errors, "After/On Success" DNRs are executed.

That said, you have couple options here. One is to make your Deployment transactional. In such case RC 9 can not happen,
single file Failure causes RC 2 (Ran and Failed), "on Success" DNRs are not executed, etc.

If you absolutely can not use transactional mode (why?) you'll have to get dipper. Within your second script you may
parse and analyse Deployment Log and proceed/ignore publishing depending on your own "failure" conditions.
