The business requirement is that the workflow is triggered from an event outside of the teamsite UIs. In an earlier POC they were presented with this possibility. I know that it is possible for perl workflows by calling iwjobc, but I think that that is not supported by java workflow. Correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Catorarn,

I have not tried this myself but this looks very much possible. There is not point why Java workflow will not work with the above scenario.. Do you have any specific reasons of believing so?

Take a look at iwmodelc.bat command-line utility (I never tried it myself).

If the deployment isn't kicked off through the UI (workflow), how are you triggering them? There's something about a "workflow is triggered from an event outside of the teamsite UIs" as a business requirement that doesn't sit well with me...

On that note, I've had success executing a model using iwmodelc. One of my clients uses scheduled reverse deployments to transfer data from a web server back into TeamSite. We trigger a workflow, using a DnR, to simply submit the data to staging and create an edition. It's completely technology independent, so you should have any problems.
