Windows authenticated DB connection

Hi,

Would it be possible to create a new database configuration to an external DB that only allows Windows Authentication as a connection? So, not providing username/password in the database connection string, but reusing the TomEE credentials where my ws-appserver service container will run under?

Hi Antal, have a look at the AppWorks Admin Guide, Chapter 43 Administration, section about 'Using Windows authentication to access SQL server'. Maybe that helps you further.

@jpluimers That's a great hint…Haven't seen it! Only this describes adding the TomEE account as user to the external database. Can we also do it the other way? So, run a second TomEE under the external database (windows) account and let our WS-appserver container serve requests over the second TomEE instance?

Hi Antal,If I understand correctly, your requirement is to run all platform related containers as it is(SQL authentication) and run ws-app server container alone with Windows authentication. Is that correct?

@Sunil P John I have AppWorks running normally under one account (in my project this is a Windows Authenticated user-X already); Only, I have an external legacy database which uses a Windows Authenticated user-Y.
So, I can ask the external database to add our user-X to their database OR maybe it's possible to run a second TomEE instance running under their user-Y and let this TomEE instance serve request for my new WS-appserver service container.

In short: Can I run one specific ws-appserver service container connected to a dedicated TomEE instance running under a different Windows service account in parallel to my normal TomEE instance?
