Get the file Size in DCT field

We have 2 fields in DCT, one to upload image and in another field customer wants to see the size of uploaded image.

I tried with JS but file size script but it's not working with Teamsite. Perl script has command to get the file size. I checked inline/callout but both will work while loading DCT/DCR but it won't work on update of any field.

Please let me know how can I get that in another field in same DCT.

Use FormAPI. Intercept 'onItemChange' Event on the "Image Path" Item and execute IWDatacapture.callServer method to get Image size.

Alternatively, you may play with JS document.fileSize attribute. Personally, I would prefer callServer. fileSize has portability
issues and you would have to open your Image File(s) in some hidden window. That may be a serious performance hit

You can use callserver to call an ipl file in which you can send the parameter as filepath and in the ipl you can use

my $filesize = -s $filepath;

to get the filesize, the filsesize would be in bytes so you would have to convert it in KB for better understanding of the user... and then return it to a method to populate the DCR field...

I believe one possible gothcha with onItemChange is it relies on the focus leaving the field i.e. the onblur event.

Field A populated by callout or 'browse'
Field B populated by onItemChange event of field A

Gotcha: Field A is changed by a callout but the the focus never enters field A. So onItemChange event is never fired.

This is a good point.

sagarshah -- I would just include callback code (js) returned from that callout that will populate the appropriate item with the size of the file when it's done uploading. Or am I missing something?
