Can I install Documentum Server 23.2 on a Linux Server without a desktop environment?

I am trying to install Documentum Server 23.2 on a Linux Server without a desktop environment. I am accessing the server via SSH.

My goal was to use the slient option for installation and configuration but I am receiving error messages which I am interpreting as InstallAnywhere having problems in my environment.

  • Yes you can, you can install x11 and use the graphical interface via ssh, or you can use the silent install scripts for installing without a gui at all (note this doesn't mean you won't need to install some graphical libraries for the installer to run)

  • Thanks for your answer.

I am looking for a way to automate the setup of a Documentum Server on a linux host without any need of user interaction.

What are the graphical libraries required for the installer to run? Are they included in the serverSetup.bin?

  • No, these are not included. You can run the setup and there will be an error on /tmp/<random folder/scripts. Latest I installed was 23.2 on Arch Linux → https://blog.aldago.es/2023/04/16/documentum-23-2-postgresql-15-2-on-arch-linux-wsl2-install-guide/ You can find there the required libraries I had to install (using GUI but not desktop environment)
