Dear All,

I have created a template that must validate the data before it is allowed to save the DCR. Currently in the onsave event I invoke a callserver method and return false to stop the save. The cgi which is called by the callserver(async!) method checks the data and calls a rountine back on the form once finished. The problem I have is that In cannot invoke IWDatacapture.save (), as the name of the DCR has not been set. I want the business to set the name of the DCR, once the data has been validated.

So how can I invoke the save once I have done my check ?

How about providing a field in the DCT for the name of the DCR, then moving your callserver process to an onSaveValid handler instead of onSave (this way you get the basic OOTB validation performed for you) - if the form is valid (in terms of required fields being populated, etc.) you can then call your routine to do the custom validation - which may include verifying that the proposed name for the DCR is acceptable - and then, if all is good, you can do the actual save.
