Determine the path of the workflow from external task's operation

Hello. I have been inherited with a task to rework our workflow model (IPM).

I have an external task that does PERL operation. Based on its operation, it could either be a success (0), or error type 1 (1) or error type 2 (2).

I could see the connection that fed through 'iwcallback' CLT excuted from within PERL.

How does the workflow know that it should take success link, or error 1 link, or error 2 link?

My understanding of iwcallback CLT is that the returncode other than 0 mark failure, but I want to be able to map each different fail code to their respective link in IPM.

Any help will be appreciated.

I believe in Perl you have to do some simple tests while developing your WFM to see which one is transition 1, transtion 2, etc. I am not a Perl expert so others on this forum may have to weigh in. With that said, I *believe* (not 100% sure) the transitions are numbered based on how they were created in the WFM.

On the side note: In Java you can callbacks/transitions based on the transition names instead of transition numbers. I am not sure if you can do the same thing in Perl. Other Perl / WF developers on this forum will have to weigh in.

When working with Perl in WFM, you need to use the GetPossibleTransitions() method of the TeamSite::WFtask object - that will give you an array of the transitions from the current task object. Once you figure out which entry in that array corresponds to the transition you want to take, you use the index of that transition in the array as the callback value.

For example:
