All,

I am still trying to figure out some of the nuances of the WebDesk interface. When I add a user to a group I always have to throw iwreset -a in order for the change to take effect in WebDesk. Is this action necessary? Or am I missing something?

Lucas, what kind of group are you referring to? A Group for sharing associated with a workarea or a .uid role file? Either way you should not have to run an iwreset. TeamSite (at least in recent versions) regularly polls the .uid files for changes unless it is really busy. Most of the changes I make to those files are realized instantly on our system.

I have figured out that it just takes a while (sometimes up to 20 minutes) for changes on the OS (i.e. removing a user from a Group for Sharing) to be reflected in the Teamsite Interface (specifically WebDesk). For example, I remove a user from a workarea group, but then I can and add a file and modify the workarea for up to ten minutes. Also when you browse by directory, the last accessed directory list is displayed (which, for testing purposes, was the workarea I removed the user from). They could go through a whole create DCR process until they saved the DCR. A really interesting error message was thrown stating that the name could be wrong, or it could be locked in another workarea (really it should say you do not have permission).

Anyway, sorry for the long winded answer. It just seems a little bit flaky to me...

Any ideas out there???

I've never seen this. When you change a group member, is it a domain group or a local server group? If a domain group, is it in the same domain as the teamsite server, or a trusted domain? Are the groups nested (ie, a global group as a member of a local group?)

Also, how does your server's hardware specs compare to the minimums identified in the TS admin guide?

Do you see lag time for user/group changes outside of TS? What if you test by creating a normal shared directory on the TS server's hard drive, and try the same kinds of group membership changes with a sample group assigned to that share. Same or different?

Some of the above answers might point to a clue.

I've noticed that whenever I create a workarea shared by a domain group, I am able to immediately access the newly created workarea. However, I am NOT able to access the workarea folder through the windows file system (Y) until about 30 minutes or so later. Has anyone else experienced this?

The same problem doesnt seem to occur with newly created workareas that are shared by local groups, FYI.
