Locking Auto Generated file

We have bilingual site that one template generates the English and French files from one DCT. The attributes are set to link the generated files to the single DCR but is there a way to have the file that was auto generated to be locked and not just modified?

How specifically are those two files "auto" generated?

Are you using perl presentation templates? If I understand your setup, you could include the call to lock the file in the presentation template(s); this might require some coding trickeration, depending on the TPL. Or you could use FormAPI to do a callserver in a function linked to the onSaveDone event that calls a CGI or JSP to set a lock on the file. With FormAPI, it might be tricky to find an appropriate event to attach it to; there's not an "OnGenerateDone" event.
