DCR migration

Hi All,

Thanks in advance. I have migrated a buch od DCRs and set the extended attributes to the DCRs. I am able to edit the DCR and the form opens up fine. But there are a couple of multiselect dropdowns which does not get selected (although there are values in the migrated dcrs). Can any one tell me if I need to do any additional tasks so that the DCRs would show up with selected values?

Chances are the DCTs use inline commands to populate the select lists, and something is preventing those inline commands from working correctly.

This is, of course, a total guess since we know nothing about your implementation.

If by "migrated" you mean, "moved to a different server", are you certain that "/usr/opt/Interwoven/TeamSite/httpd/iw-bin/dct_inline/contentSingleListOptions.ipl" even exists? If by "migrated" you mean something else, it would still be worth checking.

So my first pointer would be to find out if the script that inline is calling actually exists and works as expected outside of FormsPublisher.

Bjorn has already provided the basic answer - but this is pretty basic stuff in terms of tracking down the issue and debugging it. If you are unable or uncomfortable doing that kind of work, perhaps you should contract someone to come in and do it for you...

Thanks for the reply. By 'Migration' I mean that I had created the dcr using a Perl script grabbing values from a db table.

The inline script exists in the correct location.

The inline script works outside FormsPublisher. I am able to see the values when I run it at the console.

One question worth asking would be if this has ever worked. For instance, what happens if you just create a new form entry from ContentCenter without any "migration"'?

Anyways, my next pointers would be:
1 - Write to a log in that .ipl so you can make sure it's actually getting called
2 - Post the XML that the inline returns if you run it from the console

Yes, when I do a new form entry that values of the mutiselect drop down is getting populated.

1. No need for the log as I can still see the values in the dropdown
2. The xml has our company specific data and cannot be shared. Sorry!

I had now commented the inline and placed actual values into the DCT and it shows up correctly.

We are on TS 6.5 SP1 on solaris. Is that a bug in this version?

Debugging steps:

This is the kind of process you have to go through, and then you have to compare the actual contents of the raw DCR in all the above situations as well as verifying the output of the inline script.

there are bugs in this and any other versions. But it's unlikely that you are encountering a bug.

I myself would do a comparison between your 'migrated' DCRs (I LOVE the use of this term) and the DCRs that are created manually using New Form - tag by tag.

I had compared the XMLs created by both ways. They are the same but for the names of the DCRs (as we can't have 2 dcrs with same name in the same dir).

Then it sounds like there is an issue with the way you invoke your inlines in pre-existing DCRs - I would beef up the debugging output in the inline scripts and do some more testing between '1' and '4' again until you can figure out what isn't working (and why).

Post the sections of the XML created from #2 and the migration.

Also, open up a shell and run the inline script from the command line and post it as well.

If inline works fine, I can only think the hard-coded values are different from those returned by inline.
