Commercial TeamSite plugins/addons

dazzlad

Has anyone ever sold a commercial add-on/plugin for TeamSite.

If not, has anyone studied the license in such detail as to determine whether this would be allowed/tolerated by Autonomy Interwoven?

Thanks!

I don't know that anyone has.
I believe there were some collaborative 3rd party integrations with some portal vendors (e.g.: BEA), but I assume you're talking about something else.

As long as it uses a published API, I don't think that AI (as it now seems to be abbreviated) would have any say in the matter; other than trying to duplicate the functionality in a future version so as to cut-out the 3rd party vendor (I'm not saying they would, just that they could)

Hi there! Are you talking about selling the "add-on/plugin" through Interwoven or independently on your own? In any case, I don't know if individuals have done anything like this and if they are "allowed" to do such a thing. However, in the past I've seen other companies build custom plugins and sell it directly to TS customers. For example, certain language translation companies have created plug-ins that will provide full blown integration between TS and their TMS -- providing an experience where the business users wouldn't even realize at what point they were in TS vs TMS. Actually, some of these tranlsation vendors only provide these plug-ins through their consulting services.

Few other things to keep in mind:
1. You may want to check with a legal professional and / or Autonomy to have your bases covered.
2. Custom plug-ins may require you to re-engineer them from time-to-time depending on product feature / function updates.

HTH!
