Implicit authentication failing

Hi all,
I hope you can see what is up with authentication for a Teamsite user who can login to Teamsite but can not preview, unlike the rest of her workarea colleagues with identical privileges accessing the same files. This conundrum has landed on my desk after several frustrating months for the user.

If she
-- clicks on her pdf's filename she sees: The page cannot be displayed
-- selects the file and clicks preview: She is presented with a username/password login
screen which does not accept her credentials
-- and if you click cancel: You are not authorized to view this page

Background: we use a Windows 2003 Teamsite server, IIS web server with active directory authentication (same username/password to access workstation on the LAN and for Teamsite). The problem started several months ago when we migrated from Teamsite 6.5 to 6.7.2. The user started out on Windows 2000 professional 5.00.2195 SP4 machine, was reimaged to Windows XP professional 2002 SP3 in a failed attempt to resolve the problem. Current Internet Explorer 128 bit 6.0.2900.5512.xpsp_sp3.
Here is the scenario for Clare:
Clare logs onto her workstation & into Teamsite: no preview
Clare logs onto her workstation & I log into teamsite: no preview
I log onto her workstation & into Teamsite: preview is fine
I log onto her workstation & Clare into Teamsite: preview is fine

The access log file shows the following:

Yes she does have rights on the e/y drive, she can map and use it directly, just not through the web server. We've reset her roving profile to default (which works for everyone else), given her a newly minted copy of OS and Explorer. We've cleared temporary files and cookies. We've deleted her as a Teamsite user and re-added.

Similar looking issues have been resolved by proxy settings (and IE tuning) but this has not succeeded in this case. As the active directory account is based on the user's name there is little latitude for creating a new one, and the process is not controlled by our group.

Anyone have a suggestion as to what is broken between Teamsite store and IIS such that they won't accept her lan credentials ?

Here is an update:

Different workstation & OS: same result matrix

Her proxy settings, roles and group are identical to those of her colleagues’. The problem is not confined to her workarea as she can not preview from a different workarea either. However, she has no difficulty on other Teamsite 6.7.2.0 instances created from the same [color=black]69626

build (ncrd061 and nhap203) and authenticating via the same Active Directory process.

If it is an Active Directory issue I wouldn’t expect that she would be able to use any of the instances. If it is a problem with Teamsite authentication then how is it she can log in at all. If it is a problem with the IIS web server why does it only affect a user here and there, (we have 2 affected users now [different workareas] with a 3^rd who may have the problem).

I have opened a case as the issue is no longer confined to one user.

Know this is from a few years back but does anyone know what this issue could be?

I have this issue on windows 2008 R2/ Teamsite 7.4.

OP's issue was incredibly specific with regards to their environment. Even if yours sounds similar, there may be a nuance that we can notice if you describe your exact circumstances. I suggest doing so in a new thread -- give as much detail as you can, as OP did in the opening post.
