How can I restrict access to features in DeskSite?

Hi,

I'd like to be able to restrict access to features in DeskSite for certain users.

Specifically...

1. I'd like users to be able to browse for docs and set ACLs etc, but I don't want them to be able to 'open' documents.

2. I'd like certain users to be able to Create, Update Workspaces , folders, tabs but rectrict them from deleting those objects.

I wasn't sure if I could achieve this via registry settings or maybe by using extension commands (vb.net).

Any recommendations on best approach?
